If you have a missing tooth, it’s crucial to replace it as soon as possible. Not only do the bones in your mouth weaken when you leave a gap where your extracted tooth was, but your teeth can also start shifting, causing discomfort and a crooked smile. You might even have trouble eating if you don’t replace your missing tooth.

Replacing a tooth can be done in several ways, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures. Your dentist will work with you to find the best option for you.

Let’s explore some tooth extraction options you can try out.

1) Removable Partial Dentures

If you are missing several teeth, a removable partial denture may be a good option. A partial denture is a removable appliance that fits over your remaining teeth and is held in place by a metal clasp. Partial dentures can be made from various materials, including plastic, metal, or a combination of the two.

Partial dentures are a good option for people who are not candidates for dental implants or who do not want to wear a dental bridge. They are also a good option for people who can’t wear a full denture.

2) Flipper Tooth

A flipper tooth is a removable dental appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. It typically has one or more false teeth attached to a plastic base, which is then attached to the roof of the mouth using dental adhesive or suction. Flipper teeth are often used immediately after tooth extraction to fill in the gap in the smile and make it easier to eat.

The main downside of a flipper tooth is that, since it is a temporary fix, it is not as sturdy as a permanent tooth. If you are not careful, you may chip or break your flipper tooth.

3) Dental Implants

A dental implant is a permanent dental appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is a titanium post surgically implanted into the jawbone, and then a false tooth is attached to the top. Dental implants are often used when all of the teeth in one row are missing, as they provide a more permanent solution than a flipper tooth.

The main downside of a dental implant is that it is a surgical procedure and can be expensive.

4) Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a tooth replacement option that is fixed in place, meaning you cannot take it off without the help of a dentist. This also makes it more durable and longer-lasting than temporary options. Bridges are also less invasive than a dental implant because they require no surgery.

It is a prosthetic tooth that is supported by the two teeth on either side of the gap from tooth extraction.

5) Complete Retainers

If you have braces, your orthodontist will give you a retainer to wear after your braces are removed. A complete retainer is a type of retainer that covers all of your teeth. It is made of hard plastic and is custom-fit to your mouth.

Complete retainers are more durable than other types of retainers and are less likely to become loose or fall out of your mouth.

Conclusion

There are a few different tooth replacement options available, and you can choose one that suits your specific needs and budget. If you are missing one or more teeth, you may want to consider a dental implant, a dental bridge, or a denture.

I attended my first appointment today which was due to an emergency service I needed to have done. It’s been years since I’ve seen a dentist due to a poor experience I endured while in the military. From the moment I walked in door I could feel my anxiety decrease due to the warm welcome I received from the staff. I felt like I had already been a patient there for a long time. I was unsure what to expect from treatment and cost perspective. The Office Admins and the Dentist both walked me through the work needed, costs associated and helped work with me on a price and payment plan that was affordable for my personal situation. They showed compassion and truly listened to me during this phase of the appointment. In a time where I was feeling pain, anxiety and unsure if I was able to get the work done due to not having insurance, this amazing team went above and beyond helping me understand all of my options. I was instantly met with empathy and compassion, two things we don’t see much these days. Once the paper work was done, the Dentist was up next and outperformed my expectations. I really appreciate people who are passionate about what they do. I know I wasn’t an easy patient to deal with, and the work was completed without any pain or discomfort. It was nice to have a great experience at the dentist and I will be going back for all of my dental needs. Thank you so much!!!

I am so delighted that Danvers Aesthetic/ Dentistry has re-created their front office, their team, their personable technicians who not only do a terrific job in cleaning-flossing-polishing-removing plaque, but also the leading dentist who is knowledgeable, compassionate and first-rate in her assessment of what should be done about the choices facing each patient. In my case, implants were the way to go and I am grateful for the wisdom that led me to my decision. The entire office is now a sensitive, working team that takes top notch care of every patient. I recommend these women, wholeheartedly and without reservation!
